Here are twenty-five stories of fantasy and science fiction selected from the pages of Wildside Press's Fantasy Adventure anthology series, selected by its editor, Philip Harbottle. Throughout its run of thirteen issues FA presented both original stories and classic reprints by veteran British SF and fantasy writers, including Sydney J. Bounds, John Russell Fearn, John Glasby, Philip E. High, and E. C. Tubb. They were soon joined by newer writers, most notably Eric Brown, and the series became a modern showcase for the best of British science fiction and fantasy writing.

Really, when you come down to it, it's all fantasy. But if we make the flying carpets into spacecraft, angels into aliens, and fairyland into worlds orbiting other stars, then it becomes science fiction, with its own conventions and peculiar technobabble. Still, the dichotomy between the genres is real, and the fans are separate. However, as this book proves, it is possible to merge the two into some very fine adventures. It's a shame that good examples of this hybrid genre are as difficult to find these days as examples of well-written short stories ... a great reason to treasure this gift from the past.Product details

The ScienceFantasy Megapack 25 Classic Tales from Fantasy Adventures eBook E C Tubb Sydney J Bounds Reviews
Nice to reread stories I hadn't seen in years. See where some of today's tales had their roots and how some themes never change.
As with everything else that includes a compilation, not everything fits expectations, but this volume does a remarkably good job.
The title says it all. Nothing special in the stories. No losers and no real winners. A beach read... The price was right.
This Megapack is the best of the ones I have read (SciFi 1-3, Cthulhu, Steampunk, Solomon Kane, Occult Detective) There are no fanfic fillers, no stories so mediocre that the authors didn't bother to keep their rights, the authors were all solid, if not stellar writers. If you read SF magazines in the 70s and later, this is very comperable.
I've been mostly happy with the Megapack anthologies, but this one contains stories ranging from mediocre to downright silly. And despite the assurance by Wildside Press in the front of the book that "Unfortunately, as hard as we try, a few typos do slip through", this book was positively riddled with errors. I can't recommend this one.
Are you into old classic sci-fi/fantasy? If so, then this might be your thing.
The stories contained in this volume vary in length, with some of them being very short. Some of them have quite interesting twists.
I would have to say there is a range of quality in the stories. Some though, leave you wanting more - which is the sign of a well written tale. I'd be interested in hearing which authors in this were preferred by others.
This is a curious selection of stories. There are excellent vintage stories like "Prisoner of Time" or "The Martian Enigma", which I enjoyed a lot, and others which are just good while you're reading, but forget soon after. But most are very good tales like "Nightfall on Ronan", or the "The Gunman", or "Something in the Air", and the E.C.Tubb stories, which are always worth reading. So, in all, there is a good selection of SF and Fantasy stories, that I enjoyed reading, and I'm sure you'll also enjoy. So, buy this book and start reading!
